16-year-old midfielder Germán Barbas Diaz of Penarol is being watch by Real Madrid.

Real Madrid are keeping tabs on 16-year-old Uruguayan midfielder Germán Barbas Diaz from Peñarol, who has a release clause of just €12m and could be consider for a move to the club at a young age like compatriot Federico Valverde, UFABET reported on Tuesday. 

The Blancos are in the hunt for young South American talent after recently signing Endrick Felipe and are keen on River Plate’s Argentine midfielder Franco Mastantuono. Real Madrid are now keeping tabs on Peñarol’s Uruguayan wonderkid Barbas.

Barbas made his debut for Peñarol earlier this year against Progreso, becoming the second-youngest player in the Uruguayan league. He also played for Uruguay’s Under-19 team at the South American Championship.

His journey to this point began at the age of 12 when he joined Penarol’s youth academy.

From the outset, Barbas drew attention not only for his skills but also for his physical resemblance to Federico Valverde, another Uruguayan UFABET who has made a significant impact in European football.

The 16-year-old midfielder is nickname ‘Pajarito’ or ‘Little Bird’ because he runs around the pitch in a similar way to Valverde, the 25-year-old Real Madrid midfielder. Barbas is a technical player with high energy and a fierce goal-scoring ability. 

His standout performance came during the L’Alcudia International Football Tournament, where he represented the Uruguayan national team.

In a thrilling final, Uruguay’s U-19 squad faced off against Argentina, and it was Barbas who scored the decisive goal, securing the title for his team.
